His ways or his works?
“And the Lord drave out from before us all the people, even the Amorites which dwelt in the land: therefore will we also serve the Lord; for he is our God. And Israel served the Lord all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that overlived Joshua, and which had known all the works of the Lord, that he had done for Israel.” Joshua 24:18, 31 KJV https://www.bible.com/1/jos.24.18,31.kjv

Just in it for the works?.....”He made known His ways to Moses, His acts to the children of Israel.” (Psalm 103:20).. What is the anchor of your Christian walk? Is it a knowledge of the person/ways of God? Or is based on the mighty works and blessings you receive? In today’s Bible reading today and in the rest of the Chapter, as Joshua was about to die, the children of Isreal were reminded of the greats works of God and the victories he wrought in getting them to the promised land. They were willing to serve to Lord because of the ‘great works’ he had done and then they went on to serve the Lord as long as they had a remembrance of those works. However, we know that it was only a matter of time before they abandoned God’s ways and followed the idols of their neighbors. It is a dangerous thing to only serve because he did great miracles for you. You should go beyond the ‘friends with benefits’ status and know his ways. You should love God just for who he is, the works are side benefits. After all, the works that Isrealites were so anchored to were the results of the relationships of their fathers with God and so there was always a reference to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Moses also led them into the promises that they had been given because he knew God’s ways. Knowing God for who he is, is a key to great preservation for you and generations unborn. Why don’t you make the commitment today. Step up from the works level!!!
Prayer: Dear God, please show me your ways and help me to walk in them 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
