Your motives matter to God
“And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore. And Solomon's wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the children of the east country, and all the wisdom of Egypt. And there came of all people to hear the wisdom of Solomon, from all kings of the earth, which had heard of his wisdom.” 1 Kings 4:29-30, 34 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/1ki.4.29-34.kjv
What is your motive for the things that you request from God? The Bible tells us that when a man’s ways pleases God that even his enemies will be at peace with him. Solomon asked for wisdom to enable him rule the people of God that had been put in his charge. He wanted to be able to discharge his God-given assignment effectively. So he requested for wisdom for the creator of the people - The owner of Isreal. The Bible tells us that Wisdom is the principal thing and that we should get wisdom. The wisdom that Solomon sought in order to please the one who gave him the assignment brought for him added perks of being the wisest around. People were drawn to him. He attracted the kings of this earth from far and near. This is why the Bible tells us that when a person believes God, there is an outflow of living waters from his/her belly. Living waters attracts trade and all sorts of blessings. So, question today is, would your not rather please God and have every other thing added unto you? (Matthew 6:33)
