God will not do that which man must do. The free-will that God gave to man comes with benefits and downsides. As ‘wise’ as Solomon the king was, he appeared to be unwise or unguarded in the matters of his heart. In today’s readings, we see that despite the express instructions of God for Isrealites not to go after some women because they would turn away the hearts of the people, Solomon still went ahead and they eventually turned his heart away from God and God took the kingdom away from his generations. The loose ends that you tolerate may ultimately terminate the great works and achievements that you have. Paul recognized this and that is why he said “But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.” 1 Corinthians 9:27. Watch out for your weaknesses, they can’t be wished away. Addressing them requires intentionality. If you are always close to the edge, you may fall off at the slightest wind. Be careful to guard God’s investment jealously so that you don’t trade eternal excellence for the joy of a moment. Don’t compartmentalize God to portions of your life. He must be Lord over everything including your flesh.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for your love. Thank you for your kingdom investments in my life. Please Lord, I pray that you help me. Strengthen my inner man so that I can overcome the temptations that strive to take away my eternal relevance. Deliver me from myself. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
