Are you transformed by the Word?
“And the king went up into the house of the Lord, and all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem with him, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the people, both small and great: and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant which was found in the house of the Lord. And the king stood by a pillar, and made a covenant before the Lord, to walk after the Lord, and to keep his commandments and his testimonies and his statutes with all their heart and all their soul, to perform the words of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people stood to the covenant.” 2 Kings 23:2-3 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/2ki.23.2-3.kjv

The Bible tells us that if God’s people humble themselves and pray and turn from their wicked ways that he will heal the land. However, the Bible also warns in Isaiah 55:6 that we seek the Lord while he is near. In the Bible reading today, king Josiah sprung into action after hearing the word of God in the book that had been found and he pulled down many ancient markers of sin in the land. There was a divine anger inside of him and he made every attempt to rewrite the sins of many generations. Unfortunately, while the judgement was deferred from his time, God had been so provoked by the sins of the land that he was resolute in his plans to destroy the land. The question is: What are you doing with the word of correction and reproof that you get from God? Are you looking in the mirror of the word of God and going away immediately forgetting the blemishes that has been pointed out. There is an urgency required to retracing our paths and a constant plea for mercy such that it is not too late when we get into action. Remember, he is returning like a thief in the night.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for your lovingkindness and mercy always. Please Lord, I receive the grace to act upon the prompting of the Holy Spirit and retrace my steps and those around me from every path of destruction in Jesus name 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
