Are you vigilant?
“And they said unto him, Wherefore saith my Lord these words? God forbid that thy servants should do according to this thing: Behold, the money, which we found in our sacks' mouths, we brought again unto thee out of the land of Canaan: how then should we steal out of thy Lord's house silver or gold? With whomsoever of thy servants it be found, both let him die, and we also will be my Lord's bondmen.” Genesis 44:7-9 KJV https://www.bible.com/1/gen.44.7-9.kjv

Vigilance is key especially when we have associates. When Laban ran after Jacob and his family when he was departing his house, claiming that Jacob has stolen his idol, Jacob was so sure of himself that he said whoever was with the idol should die not knowing that it was his beloved wife Rachel who had taken it (Gen 31:32). Even though Laban did not find the idol and there wasn’t immediate death, who knows if that proclamation somehow had something to do with her untimely death. In today’s Bible reading, Joseph’s brothers had been set up and they walked right into the trap. Considering that the last time they came to buy items in Egypt they got home to find the money in their bags; one would expect that before leaving Joseph’s house they would check their bags again but they were carried away by the hospitality and just happy to be able to buy food again. When accosted this time, they should at least have proceeded with caution but then again with confidence they proclaimed that whoever the cup was found with (not who stole it) should be killed and then they would also be servants. As children of God we must be vigilant and consistently ask God for mercy to be sure that certain things, habits, secret sins have not snuck into our lives, homes, ministries etc before we make certain proclamations. Mercy is key. Mercy before decree. So many times the enemy that you are decreeing to die may be an internal one that you are not aware of and that will impact you significantly. May the Lord deliver us from every spirit of error.
Prayer: Dear Lord, please give me seeing eyes and a sensitive spirit to see any area of carelessness in my life. By your mercy deliver me and my household from every pronouncement that is working contrary to our lives in Jesus name 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
