Are you walking with the right people?
”And Dinah the daughter of Leah, which she bare unto Jacob, went out to see the daughters of the land. And when Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, prince of the country, saw her, he took her, and lay with her, and defiled her.“ Genesis 34:1-2 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/gen.34.1-2.kjv

Be careful of your associations. The Bible tells us in the book of Psalms that blessed is the one who does not walk in the counsel of the ungodly or stands in the way of sinners or sits in the seat of scorners. There is a progression there from walking to seating. The Bible also tells us that the person who walks with the wise will be wise and the companion of fools will be destroyed. In addition, the Bible tells us that the person who breaks the hedge the serpent will bite. This speaks to the importance of the circles that we are found in. In the Bible reading today, Dinah, Jacob’s daughter went into the circle of the daughters of the land in Canaan and there she encountered one of the men of the land and she was raped. She was new in the land and probably stood out in the midst of the locals. We know that this association led to all sorts of pains for the people of the land and even heartache for her father and curses several years later for her brothers who avenged her passionately. Hence it is important that we seeks God’s guidance and follow his precepts in our associations. God’s word should be a light to guide our path and a lamp to our steps. Ask yourself if your associations glorify God. Ask, is God in it? Ask, am I operating within the hedge of protection? Our decisions have far reaching consequences. Be careful of the walking that ultimately leads to the seating.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you because you are indeed a righteous and holy God who is passionate about the details of our lives. Please Lord, open my eyes to see and my heart to discern the quality of my associations. Deliver me from every association that will lead me out of your hedge of protection. Help me to abide and thrive in your coverage in Jesus name 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾.
