Becoming a candidate of God's mercies
“Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.” Exodus 20:5-6 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/exo.20.5-6.kjv
The Bible tells us in Lam 3:22 that it is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed. However, the Bible also tells us that God shows mercy to whomever he wishes. So, then this critical resource can only be given as God pleases. Often then we wonder what we need to do to be candidates of God’s mercies. The Bible reading today gives us a glimpse into the first pass screening criteria for his mercy. We see that love for God and obedience to his commandment is a prerequisite for receiving God’s mercies. So, do you love God so much that you seek to please him always by doing his will or are you paying lip service to Him without any evidence of the love?
Prayer: Dear God, please make me a candidate of your mercy and please give me the grace to obey you in complete love for you 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
