Do your gifts please the Lord?

“The LORD reigneth; let the earth rejoice; Let the multitude of isles be glad thereof. Clouds and darkness are round about him: Righteousness and judgment are the habitation of his throne. A fire goeth before him, And burneth up his enemies round about. His lightnings enlightened the world: The earth saw, and trembled. The hills melted like wax at the presence of the LORD, At the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.” Psalm 97:1-5 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/psa.97.1-5.kjv

Do your gifts please the Lord?

The psalmist asks a critical question “Who shall ascend into the hills of the Lord and who shall stand in his holy place?”. He then goes on to describe the qualifying critieria which is holiness. The presence of the Lord is a place of power and only those who meets heaven’s criteria can stand. The Bible reading today gives an indication of this power by describing that the earth trembles and hills melts. Long-standing foundations are shattered in the presence of God. Yet we are told that in this same presence of God there is fullness of joy and that there are pleasures for evermore.  This tells us that your reaction at the presence of God is driven by your standing with God. A place of terror for others can be a place of joy for you only if you are washed and purified with his blood and consecrated unto him. So, what would it be? Terror or pleasures for evermore? Choose wisely.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you because you do terrible things in righteousness and yet you are mindful of me. Thank you because you provide an avenue for me to come boldly before your throne of grace. Please help me Lord to please you always in my heart and deeds so that I can derive the pleasures that come from holy living in your presence 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾.
