Don't be a victim of another man's error
“But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, for the woman which thou hast taken; for she is a man's wife. And God said unto him in a dream, Yea, I know that thou didst this in the integrity of thy heart; for I also withheld thee from sinning against me: therefore suffered I thee not to touch her. Now therefore restore the man his wife; for he is a prophet, and he shall pray for thee, and thou shalt live: and if thou restore her not, know thou that thou shalt surely die, thou, and all that are thine.” Genesis 20:3, 6-7 KJV https://www.bible.com/1/gen.20.3,6-7.kjv
Victim of another man’s error?...... Some people go through challenges as a result of an omission or commission from another party. In the Bible reading today and the rest of the chapter, an example of such is seen. Abraham was the one who had committed the error by saying that Sarah was his sister (even though ‘technically’ she was) to protect himself by not acknowledging her as his wife. However, affliction had come to the house of the king Abimelech as a result of his decision to take Abraham’s ‘sister’ for wife.. God had also shown him some mercy by preventing him from sleeping with Sarah while she was in his house. But he still had to return her and restitute else he will die. It seems a bit unfair to Abimelech right? But God’s ways are not our ways... So just because you did not orchestrate the error, being a party to it might be fatal. Achan took the accursed thing but it was the other men that went to the battle of Ai that paid for it and by extension the nation of Israel (Joshua 7:5). So, is God helping you today by preventing you from delving deeper into a sin today? Are you getting some warnings about an association, even though it was from the ‘purity’ of your heart? Then ask God for mercy and make it right... Do not be a victim of another man’s error and don’t make it worse by building on the error yourself...
Prayer: Dear God, thank you for your word. Please open my eyes to see any area where I may be living in error or partaking from another’s error and give me the grace to do right that I may be healed and saved 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
