God moves mountains, reverses the irreversible and allows his mercy to prevail over judgement in the lives of his children “for his name’s sake”. It is such a privilege to be named for Christ and branded as his own. This is because his brand upon you speaks even in God’s anger. Recall that when God was angry with Israel on their journey to the promised land, he wanted to completely wipe them out.  However, Moses pleaded their cause saying to God that people would say that because he was not able to get them to the promised land, he allowed them to perish in the wilderness. For the sake of his name, God changed his mind. In the Bible reading today, despite using the countries of Assyria and Babylon to punish Israel for their continued disobedience, God was then dealing with the enemy who had oppressed them.  He was going to restore the remnant of Israel, the nation that is dear to his heart for his name’s sake. It is important to note though that while the remnant got mercy, a lot of the Israelites had already been consumed. So, it’s a warning not to take the grace for granted so as not to be a casualty of the anger of God ahead of his mercy that restores. 

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you because you are indeed plenteous in mercy. Thank you because your mercy prevails over judgement. Father, for your name sake, please have mercy on our land. Help us Lord, like only you can. Deliver us from every lawful captivity for your name sake 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾.
