Don't get too comfortable
“But Jeshurun waxed fat, and kicked: thou art waxen fat, thou art grown thick, thou art covered with fatness; then he forsook God which made him, and lightly esteemed the Rock of his salvation. They provoked him to jealousy with strange gods, with abominations provoked they him to anger. Of the Rock that begat thee thou art unmindful, and hast forgotten God that formed thee.” Deuteronomy 32:15-16, 18 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/deu.32.15-18.kjv

Be wary of the carelessness that comes with being ‘spiritually fat’. In the Bible reading today, Moses and Joshua were sharing a song with the Israelites as a reminder when they entered the promise of the dos and don’ts of their walk with God. The scenario in this text is of one who had become so fed by God and become fat, forgetting his source and going after strange gods. In the texts that follow in the chapter, the reward of such behavior is drastic almost to the point of near wipe out. This is a clear note of warning for Christians who seek the face of God in desperation and then as soon as things lighten up, they become self-aware and start to relax in their ‘God-Awareness’. It is dangerous. Take stock of your actions and past life today and verify that you are not ‘esteeming God lightly’ whether in words or actions. If you are guilty of that, repent and retrace your steps seeking for God’s mercy and Grace. The gift must never be prioritized over the giver!!! A stream we are told that forgets its source dries up.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for your loving kindness towards us. Thank you for rescuing us always from the fiery darts of the enemy. Thank you for a hope and future in you. Please help me through the prompting of the Holy Spirit to stay focused on you as I enter into my rest in Jesus name 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾.
