You need to be careful about a sense of entitlement in the things of the kingdom. In the Bible reading today, John the Baptist was speaking to the Pharisees and Saducees who tended to have a sense of spiritual superiority. He emphasized the need to bring forth fruits of repentance as opposed to feeling that they had gained certain permanent kingdom rights as the seed of Abraham. We know that our God is not a respecter of persons. He raises beggars from the dung hill to place them amongst kings.  In fact sometimes he deliberately interjects the sequence of men to uplift the lowest so that it can be clear that he rules in the affairs of men and does as he pleases. John reminded them to focus on bearing the right fruits because ultimately the resources and privileges that you have been afforded by God is so that you can bring forth fruits and grow the kingdom. So when you thing about your Christian walk, are you still focused on the heartbeat of the master or have you settled into the the been-there-done-that mode? A constant freshness is required even if you had been fruitful in the past.  Recall the fig tree that Jesus cursed for not having any fruit even though it was off season. Stay fresh, stay connected and stay relevant to God’s kingdom agenda.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for your lovingkindness and mercies that are new every day. Lord I seek you afresh today, please have mercy on me and grant me the grace to live according to your expectations of me. Let my life thrive in the place of fellowship and relationship with you in Jesus name 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾. ‎
