Don't rest on your Gifts
“And he made in Jerusalem engines, invented by cunning men, to be on the towers and upon the bulwarks, to shoot arrows and great stones withal. And his name spread far abroad; for he was marvellously helped, till he was strong. But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up to his destruction: for he transgressed against the LORD his God, and went into the temple of the LORD to burn incense upon the altar of incense.” 2 Chronicles 26:15-16 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/2ch.26.15-16.kjv

It is very important to recognize boundaries in the kingdom and to be careful of pride and a sense of self-sufficiency. Often, we see great trees grow and blossom but then if a season of drought comes then that same trees becomes a shadow of themselves. That’s because the visible blossoming is tied to the source (the water and nutrients from the ground) and once the source is cut-off it all disappears. Such is the case of king Uzziah in today’s Bible reading. He sought God and was helped of God and became recognized across the land. However, when he then became strong, pride set in and he no longer knew his boundaries. He wanted to take over the job of the priests and burn incense to God and even when he was resisted by the priests he became angry. Well, this ‘great man’ became and died a leper when grace was withdrawn. It is very dangerous to fall from grace because it’s usually a fall to below ground zero except for the mercy of God. So, the question today is: What blessing of God have you received that is bringing accolades your way but also making you forget the original source of it all? Be careful, retrace your step to the source. A fan without power stops rolling instantly. Never prioritize the gift over the giver!!!
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for your word always, thank you for your mercy and long suffering. Lord, I come before you today to lay down all my achievements and accolades before you who provided them. Please nudge me always through the Holy Spirit to remain humble and respect my source so that I can dwell in your victory for ever 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾.
