Don't rest yet

“They spend their days in wealth, And in a moment go down to the grave. Therefore they say unto God, Depart from us; For we desire not the knowledge of thy ways. What is the Almighty, that we should serve him? And what profit should we have, if we pray unto him? How oft is the candle of the wicked put out! And how oft cometh their destruction upon them! God distributeth sorrows in his anger. They are as stubble before the wind, And as chaff that the storm carrieth away. God layeth up his iniquity for his children: He rewardeth him, and he shall know it.” Job 21:13-15, 17-19 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/job.21.13-19.kjv

Don't rest yet

Don’t be carried away by wealth and comforts of life to the point that you despise the giver of life. The Israelites were warned in Deuteronomy chapter 8 about getting comfortable in the promised land to the point that their heart becomes lifted and they say that their power got them to where they were. In the Bible reading today, Job talks about how the wicked’s heart is lifted up because of their wealth and they start to question the existence and authority of God. We are reminded of how fleeting life can be and like an African proverb that speaks to the fate of a river that forgets it source, such an individual is cut off. So, examine yourself today.  Are you comfortable to the point where you get a sense of self-sufficiency questioning what you need God for? That’s a dangerous place to be. If in doubt, ask Nebuchadnezzar who needed to be schooled in the wilderness for 7 years after which he acknowledged the supremacy of God. Be careful.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for your faithfulness and almightiness. Thank you for all that you have done in my life. Please nudge me through the Holy Spirit whenever I start to get complacent in my walk with you. Help me Lord and deliver me from pride that I might enjoy your benefits in my life continuously 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾.
