Don't Stray Away

“So Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam on the third day, as the king bade, saying, Come again to me on the third day. And the king answered them roughly; and king Rehoboam forsook the counsel of the old men, and answered them after the advice of the young men, saying, My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add thereto: my father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.” 2 Chronicles 10:12-14 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/2ch.10.12-14.kjv

Don't Stray Away

The Bible says that a soft answer turns away wrath but a harsh word stirs up anger. This is evident in the Bible reading today where the script of the kingdom being taken away from Rehoboam was playing out according to that which had been told to Solomon his father when he strayed after other gods. However, Rehoboam may have had a chance if he had sought God’s face before the execution of the plan. In addition to not seeking God’s face, he chose a harsh counsel over the wisdom of old. This just aggravated the situation with the Israelites and so on the basis of his response the Israelites decided that enough was enough.  Be careful of position without authority. He assumed that he still had the authority but the backing of the most High God was withdrawn so his commands fell flat like Samson who got up to go as usual not knowing that he was an empty shell at that point.

Prayer:  Dear Lord, thank you because you are a merciful God. Please Lord, in your mercy please reverse every negative judgement hanging over my life and generations 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾.
