Don't wander too far
“For he built up again the high places which Hezekiah his father had destroyed; and he reared up altars for Baal, and made a grove, as did Ahab king of Israel; and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served them. And he set a graven image of the grove that he had made in the house, of which the Lord said to David, and to Solomon his son, In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all tribes of Israel, will I put my name for ever: Therefore thus saith the Lord God of Israel, Behold, I am bringing such evil upon Jerusalem and Judah, that whosoever heareth of it, both his ears shall tingle.” 2 Kings 21:3, 7, 12 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/2ki.21.3-12.kjv

The Bible warns in Prov 22:28 that we remove not the ancient land mark which our fathers have set. The boundaries, the symbols of God’s deliverance as a reminder to worship God always. In the Bible reading today, Mannaseh who reigned in Judah after king Hezekiah not only rebuilt the high places of idol worship that his father pulled down, he proceeded to desecrate the house of the Lord by putting graven images in the place that had been chosen by God at the building of the temple as a marker of his continued presence in Isreal. Well, the Lord responded and his verdict was that the sort of thing that he was going to do with Jerusalem and Judah will make the ears tingle. Our God is long suffering and sometime we take it for granted as his children. We fall into sin and plead for mercy and he forgives and then we go through the cycle again. Sometimes, we become brazen enough that we start to construct the sin intentionally because we think that we have the password. There are lines that must not be crossed, boundaries that must be maintained. Crossing such lines amounts to the desecration of the temple like the reading today and the response to such is fierce. What are the lines in your walk with God? Do you know them? Are you living on the edge? Retrace your steps today to the waiting arms of the father so as not to be a recipient of the consuming fire side of his personality.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for your faithfulness always. Thank you for your love towards us. Father, please teach me your word daily and guide me in the way to go so that I don’t walk or wander out of your presence in Jesus name 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
