Following the shepherd's lead

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” Psalm 23:1-4 KJV https://www.bible.com/1/psa.23.1-4.kjv

Following the shepherd's lead

Is he your shepherd?..... A shepherd guides, leads, cares for and guards his sheep. The question of God being a shepherd has a sure answer. He is! However, are you one of his sheep? When he leads, do you follow? Are you only sold out to him when the path looks like the green pastures and change your mind when it doesn’t align in your mind? The confidence that the psalmist shows in the Bible reading today when he walks through the valley of shadow of death, is because he was being led. So he knew that if God brought him to it then it is for a reason and that he will see him through it. If however you are walking outside God’s leading then you will be afraid because you are not sure if he is watching out for you. Although in his infinite mercies he often tries to get us back into his path using life circumstances to draw your attention back to him. The shepherd-sheep relationship is a daily one. It requires a new commitment daily to be led by his awesome wisdom, guided by his hands and steered by his direction. As you go about your day today and in the days ahead, ask your self if truly God is your shepherd. Then you know that no matter what lays ahead, you know that you are guarded by His eye (Psalm 32:8)
