God's presence, a key ingredient for the dynamic future
“But will God indeed dwell on the earth? behold, the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house that I have builded? Yet have thou respect unto the prayer of thy servant, and to his supplication, O Lord my God, to hearken unto the cry and to the prayer, which thy servant prayeth before thee to day: And hearken thou to the supplication of thy servant, and of thy people Israel, when they shall pray toward this place: and hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place: and when thou hearest, forgive.” 1 Kings 8:27-28, 30 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/1ki.8.27-30.kjv
The assurance of God’s presence is very important in the journey of life. We can pray about the specifics that we know today but what about the events that are unknown to us at the moment? Solomon knew the importance of the presence of God as seen in today’s Bible reading. At the commissioning of the temple, he prayed to God asking for his presence always in the temple that had been built. He gave so many scenarios including those where the children of Isreal strayed away or where strangers were drawn to the temple. In all cases, he wanted the assurance that whenever the people turned to God is repentance and supplication that there will be answers to the prayers. Today, God’s temple is in our hearts and while it is tempting to ask for the physical and tangible things, why not leverage the best practices of the wise king Solomon to ask instead that God’s presence be available to you always. He is the greatest ally that one could ever have and like the musician sang “No matter what may come my way, my life is in your hands”. However you need to ensure that you are meeting the requirements for his presence - a life of Holiness so that you don’t go out like Samson not knowing that the glory has departed.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for your love. Thank you because despite your view of the whole world that you made, you are mindful of my innermost thoughts. Please Lord, let your presence abide with me always so that I can have consistent victory no matter what comes my way 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
