God's sense of humor and judgement

“When the Philistines took the ark of God, they brought it into the house of Dagon, and set it by Dagon. But the hand of the Lord was heavy upon them of Ashdod, and he destroyed them, and smote them with emerods, even Ashdod and the coasts thereof. And when the men of Ashdod saw that it was so, they said, The ark of the God of Israel shall not abide with us: for his hand is sore upon us, and upon Dagon our god.” 1 Samuel 5:2, 6-7 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/1sa.5.2-7.kjv

God's sense of humor and judgement

God’s ways are not ours. He has an interesting sense of humor and judgement. So many times in the Bible we see how God uses other nations to punish Israel for their straying away. But then he turns around and punishes the nation that was used to deal with Isreal to remind them “who is still the boss”. In the book of Isaiah, He says concerning Babylon that “I was wroth with my people, I have polluted mine inheritance, and given them into thine hand: thou didst shew them no mercy; upon the ancient hast thou very heavily laid thy yoke.” Isaiah 47:6 KJV. He then proceeds to describe the calamity that was to befall Babylon for how they had dealt with Isreal. It is a fearful thing to be on the wrong side of God’s pleasure. In the Bible reading today, God dealt with the god of the Philistines for daring to put the ark in the house of their little god. Yet this was the same ark that was captured easily from the Isrealites in the battle because God was dealing with the Isrealites. God also destroyed the philistines in every city that the ark was taken to until the Philistines cried out to return the ark of God. One point of caution today is that sometimes God deals with his beloved when they stray but He does not handover the rights to you to trample on them. Sometimes individuals are quick to judge men of God who are going through a temporary respite for some issues they have had. You must be careful not to carry the weight of God’s displeasure by carrying on and assassinating such a person’s character. Do not carry another’s baggage by engaging in a fight that is not yours to fight.

Prayer: Dear God, please help me to continue to be at the center of your will. Let me not be a partaker of another’s judgement as a result of lack of discernment in Jesus name 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
