How are you living?
”And Jacob lived in the land of Egypt seventeen years: so the whole age of Jacob was an hundred forty and seven years. And the time drew nigh that Israel must die: and he called his son Joseph, and said unto him, If now I have found grace in thy sight, put, I pray thee, thy hand under my thigh, and deal kindly and truly with me; bury me not, I pray thee, in Egypt:“ Genesis 47:28-29 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/gen.47.28-29.kjv

The Bible reading today offers a very profound analogy for any Christian on his/her sojourn here on earth. Jacob had lived for about 17 years in Egypt and he and his sons had done very well and grew wealthy. However, as he was getting closer to dying, he called his son Joseph and made his swear that he will take his body back home. No matter how good the land of Egypt was to him, he knew that it was not home. The analogy that this presents to us as modern day Christians is the reminder that the world is only a place of sojourn and our eternity lies somewhere else. The choice of where we will spend that eternity is driven by our options today. What are you doing today to secure your eternal home in heaven. Are you living according to God’s instructions or are you living recklessly? Are you without blemish? Are you seeking the HolySpirit’s help to live holy? Recall that he is coming back for a church without wrinkle or blemish. Don’t be carried away by the pleasures of today. This world is not home.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for your faithfulness always. Thank you for being my God and king. Thank you because you continue to lead us on the path to our heavenly home in glory. Please Lord help me to stay focused as you lead. Keep distractions away from me and have mercy for any past acts of disobedience. Please help me to live by heaven’s expectations till I meet with God in glory in Jesus name 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾.
