How devoted are you?

“Thou hast walked in the way of thy sister; therefore will I give her cup into thine hand. Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou hast forgotten me, and cast me behind thy back, therefore bear thou also thy lewdness and thy whoredoms. And they shall recompense your lewdness upon you, and ye shall bear the sins of your idols: and ye shall know that I am the Lord GOD.” Ezekiel 23:31, 35, 49 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/ezk.23.31-49.kjv

How devoted are you?

The Bible tells us in the book of Ezekiel that our God is a jealous God and as such we should not serve any other God but him. As believers, God has vested interests in us. After all in his compassion, he delivered us while we were lost in sin. As such he expects reciprocity in our dedication to him. However, we often chase after other gods and the distractions of life that have become idols to us.  In the Bible reading today, he describes this sort of behaviors done by Samaria and Jerusalem using the analogy of two sisters who he described as harlots. He then proclaims that he was turning his back on them since they had forgotten him. That is such a dangerous place to be because the Bible tells us that it is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed.  So, you can imagine what would happen it he turns his back. Hence, it is important that we remain dedicated to God and the things of God so that we don’t find ourselves in the situation that Samaria and Jerusalem found themselves with wars and desolation.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for your faithfulness always and your consistent call to fellowship. Please help me Lord to trace my steps back to you. Have mercy on me and forgive me of every unrighteousness. Let your grace and mercy restore me to the center of your pleasure in Jesus name 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾. ‎
