How obedient are you to instructions?
“Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye are passed over Jordan into the land of Canaan; Then ye shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you, and destroy all their pictures, and destroy all their molten images, and quite pluck down all their high places: But if ye will not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you; then it shall come to pass, that those which ye let remain of them shall be pricks in your eyes, and thorns in your sides, and shall vex you in the land wherein ye dwell. Moreover it shall come to pass, that I shall do unto you, as I thought to do unto them.” Numbers 33:51-52, 55-56 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/num.33.51-56.kjv

What are you tolerating in your inheritance that could be a snare to you? In the Bible reading today, after a very long and eventful journey as detailed in the chapter, the Israelites were about to come into their rest, the land of promise, their inheritance. However, the instructions were clear, they had to drive out those that were there and destroy all their artifacts. There was to be a marked difference between the prior and the new. They were warned that anything they left or tolerated would come back to haunt them them. And besides, they would likely attract the same judgment from God as he had planned for the people. Their entry into the promised land was not a blank cheque, it had conditions of retention and enjoyment. They had work to do. So, what is God asking you to do as you enter into the promise that he has given you? What priorities is he setting for you? What warnings are being provided to you? How is God setting you apart from the previous occupants of the land or position? Remember our sole purpose in life as creations of God is to point the glory back to God. Examine your life and be sure that you are not tolerating habits and artifacts of sins that might contaminate your promise.
Prayer: Dear God, thank you for who you are and all your promises to me. Please Lord, help me like only you can. Open my eyes and heart daily to be reminded of the conditions of the promise and give me the grace to walk in obedience so that I may eat the good of the land 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾.
