How often do you reflect?

“And I have given you a land for which ye did not labour, and cities which ye built not, and ye dwell in them; of the vineyards and oliveyards which ye planted not do ye eat. Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the LORD. And the people answered and said, God forbid that we should forsake the LORD, to serve other gods;” Joshua 24:13-14, 16 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/jos.24.13-16.kjv

How often do you reflect?

As children of God, reflection is a very powerful tool for staying anchored to the source of our being. This is why the devil tries to distract us with so much busyness and making us to look towards the things that we don’t yet have, that we forget how far we have come. In today’s Bible reading, as Joshua was dying, he called the leaders of Israel and reminded them how far they have come from Abraham who left his kindred following God’s instructions, to the deliverances from the Egyptians and the victories over their enemies as they journeyed to the promised land.  He pointed out to them how God gave them vineyards that they did not plant to  enjoy and how he fought for them. Having recounted all of these, the Israelites committed to serving God with all their hearts. The Bible records later in the chapter that Israel served the Lord all the days of Joshua and of the elders who had experienced the mighty moves of God. However, as soon as the people started to loose connection with where they were coming from they started to get carried away in the present and forget God.  So, key question for you: When was the last time that you reflected on the journey of your life? How often do you remember the deliverances that God had gotten for you? Or are you permanently stuck in a state of complaint of what is not enough? A dose of reflection is critical for gratitude and rededication. Go down memory lane today.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you because you are the all-sufficient God. Thank you for consistently fighting my battles. Thank you for helping me in the journey of life. Lord, I rededicate my life and all to you afresh. Let my life be pleasing to you and let the evidence of your pleasure radiate through all that concerns me in Jesus name 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾. ‎
