Is your altar fit for divine encounter?
“And God said unto Jacob, Arise, go up to Beth–el, and dwell there: and make there an altar unto God, that appeared unto thee when thou fleddest from the face of Esau thy brother. Then Jacob said unto his household, and to all that were with him, Put away the strange gods that are among you, and be clean, and change your garments: And they gave unto Jacob all the strange gods which were in their hand, and all their earrings which were in their ears; and Jacob hid them under the oak which was by Shechem.” Genesis 35:1-2, 4 KJV https://www.bible.com/1/gen.35.1-2,4.kjv

God had called for a meeting with Jacob at the place of Encounter. He recognized the requirements of Fellowship which is primarily being Holy so he had requested that his family put away the strange gods amongst them. They did and he hid them. This brings a lot of questions to mind as you start to wonder why Jacob being aware that they had strange gods even condoned it in the first place. Also you wonder why he would hide the idols and not simply destroy it. But one thing was sure. He knew that they could not approach the fellowship with unclean associations. The good thing today is that the altar and place of fellowship has moved into our hearts. So, in order to have fellowship with God, we need to consistently put away strange habits, distractions, negative thoughts and the idols that compete for God’s attention in our lives. He cannot behold iniquity. It is a terrible thing for the spirit of the Lord to depart from a person as in the case of Saul, he was then taken over by an evil spirit. Don’t grieve the Holyspirit. Don’t insult God by harboring filth in the place of his fellowship with you. More importantly, are you showing up for the communion and fellowship with God in your heart? Remember, in the presence of God there is fullness of joy.
Prayer: Dear God, I renew my commitment to you today. By your grace, please help me to live a life that is holy and acceptable to you so that I can fellowship with you and receive instructions for life 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
