Living on the edge?
“Yet ye have forsaken me, and served other gods: wherefore I will deliver you no more. Go and cry unto the gods which ye have chosen; let them deliver you in the time of your tribulation. And they put away the strange gods from among them, and served the Lord: and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.” Judges 10:13-14, 16 KJV https://www.bible.com/1/jdg.10.13-14,16.kjv
Of what use is pledging your allegiance to a god that cannot deliver you? In today’s reading God had enough of the straying of the Isrealites. In the chapter, he reminded them of all the great deliverances that he had wrought for them and yet they kept going after other gods. Well, they had made their choice and he asked them to go get their salvation and deliverance from their master. In this moment of clarity, they again decide to put away the strange gods and our Lord God who is plenteous in mercy again saves them. A lot of us continue to live on the edge, banking on the mercy of God to save us when we repent temporarily. It’s a dangerous thing to do as there may not be a second chance on one of such situations. Stop playing games with God. Make up your mind to serve him and do his will because again I ask: of what use is following after the gods (idols, distractions and sin) that cannot deliver you in times of trouble?
Prayer: Dear Lord, I choose to serve you. Please give me the grace to live above sin and to follow your instructions whole-heartedly 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
