Stuck in patterns of Sin - Child or Reprobate?

“And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk: Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.” Revelation 9:20-21 KJV https://www.bible.com/1/rev.9.20-21.kjv

Stuck in patterns of Sin - Child or Reprobate?

Often when there are challenges happening to us or those around us or in our nation, we are often quick to say “If only you will help me to survive this, God, I will serve you and never go wrong again”. However, as soon as those challenges pass and probably a little while later, most people return to their old ways... There are two analogies that come to mind for such scenarios. One is of a child who does not understand the magnitude of what happens and keeps going back to it. The second one is of some one who is somewhat impaired in their minds or incapacitated and keeps doing something that hurts, damming all consequences. The Bible says “And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;” Romans 1:28. The Bible reading today talks about those who witness immense death and destruction from a plague and still return to their evil ways. The charge today is to identify where you are? Are you stuck in those ways because you are child in the kingdom? Then, choose to grow. Feed on the word of God so that you can discern when the devil comes at you with ‘rational’ thoughts that are sugar-coated poison. Or are you somewhat in the category of the person who is doing things that are not convenient because they have been given over to a reprobate mind? Ask God for mercy... He is able to forgive despite how far gone you are. So that you will be saved from the ultimate destruction....

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for your word. Examine me o Lord and in your mercy help me to stop any practices that could rob be of my eternal joy in you 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
