Taking grace for granted?

“Wherefore the Lord God of Israel saith, I said indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now the Lord saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.” 1 Samuel 2:30 KJV https://www.bible.com/1/1sa.2.30.kjv

Taking grace for granted?

How are you treating the promise? Often there is a tendency to abuse some gifts that are received on the platter of gold. Think of Isrealites in the wilderness that were complaining about the manna that was provided to them from Heaven. There is a popular saying that “Salvation is free but ask Jesus who paid the price”. We tend to take certain kingdom privileges for granted and it is a dangerous place to be. When you start to get a sense of entitlement in the things of God then it’s time to step back and rethink. In the Bible reading today, God sent a prophet to Eli. The generational promise made to his fathers was to be terminated on his watch. Why? God says that he will honor those that honor him but lightly esteem those that lightly esteem him. The sons of Eli were not only committing sin, they were making others to sin against God and despise God because of their ‘privileged position of authority’ in the house of God. Has God placed some kingdom assignment in your care? How are you treating it? Are people glorifying God because you are in the place of your assignment? Or are they saying if this is how it is to be a Christian then I am not interested? Search your heart today and seek God for mercy while he may still be found.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for your mercies. In any way I may be taking your love for granted, please forgive me. Restore me and restore the promptings of the Holy Spirit in me in Jesus name 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
