What is your anchor?

”Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying, Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread. But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?“ Matthew 15:1-3 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/mat.15.1-3.kjv

What is your anchor?

Are you anchored to God’s commandments or the doctrines of men? The Bible tells us that you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free. Jesus also told us that he is the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the father except by him. Hence any doctrine outside of God’s prescription in his word should be scrutinized. This is why the Berean Christians got a special call out in the Bible as they were people who went on a deep search of the scriptures to know the truth of God’s words and test that against whatever they are hearing.  In the Bible reading today, the Pharisees accused Jesus’ disciples of breaking the tradition of the elders and Jesus responded by testing the foundation of those traditions in the first place. Don’t get too stuck on traditions. Seek to know what God is saying to you. While doctrines and traditions that are rooted in God’s words serve as guardrails for us as Christians, we must seek to continue to know the truth so that we can always test if we are still anchored to the foundation of our Christian faith - God.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for your light that you make available to us always in your word. Thank you for consistently guiding our path. Lord, as I seek to know you more and the truth of your word, please open my eyes to see any areas of opportunity so that my life can be guided fully by the truth of your word in Jesus name 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾. ‎
