What is your fear?
“The wicked flee when no man pursueth: But the righteous are bold as a lion. He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: But whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy. Happy is the man that feareth alway: But he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into mischief.” Proverbs 28:1, 13-14 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/pro.28.1-14.kjv

Who or what do you fear? The Bible reading today starts by saying that the righteous is as bold as a lion whereas the wicked runs when no one is pursuing them as they are in perpetual fear due to the consequences of their evil deeds. However, the text then shifts gears to say that the one that fears always is happy while the one who hardens his heart will fall into mischief. This suggests that this speaks to a different kind of fear. The one that lead to right decision making that results in happiness. This is corroborated by another Bible verse that says that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Hence, who or what you fear has implications for the quality of your life. If you fear God, you will abstain from evil and so you become bold as a lion because not only do you not fear any negative consequences, you also have the backing of the heavenly allies. However, if you harden your heart to the instructions of God then you live in iniquity that leads to a life of constant fear which leads to destruction. So what would you rather have? The fear of God that keeps you from evil or the fear of the result of careless and unguided living?
Prayer: Thank you Lord because you are the God of peace and you promise your children peace that passes all understanding even in the midst of the storm. Please Lord teach me your ways, help me to live by them, and let me thrive in the boldness that comes from a divinely guided life in Jesus name 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾.
