What is your motivation?

“When Joab saw that the front of the battle was against him before and behind, he chose of all the choice men of Israel, and put them in array against the Syrians: And the rest of the people he delivered into the hand of Abishai his brother, that he might put them in array against the children of Ammon. And he said, If the Syrians be too strong for me, then thou shalt help me: but if the children of Ammon be too strong for thee, then I will come and help thee. Be of good courage, and let us play the men for our people, and for the cities of our God: and the Lord do that which seemeth him good.” 2 Samuel 10:9-12 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/2sa.10.9-12.kjv

What is your motivation?

What is your motivation? When you go ‘out to battle’ of life, is it for yourself only, for the people or for God? In today’s Bible reading, the show of love that David extended to Ammon’s king was misconstrued and that led to a battle between Isreal and Ammon who had coopted allies to fight alongside with them. When Joab saw the battle encompassing them from the enemies. He strategized and split up the army but what was very instructional is the fact that his motivation and that of the army of Isreal was to be strong for the people and city of God. They were going to rise up to the occasion to do their bit for the glory of God and they trusted God to do his thing. When you tackle the battle of life, it is important that the motivation is right which is aligned to your purpose as a human being and creation of God which is to point the glory to God. Then we can be sure that the greatest ally anyone can ever have will step into the battle and grant victory like God did when he thoroughly dealt with the armies of Ammon and their ally Syria.

Prayer: Dear God, thank you for life and the privilege of your presence. Please Lord give me the courage to continue to stand for you even in the face of the fiercest opposition 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
