Where do you seek counsel from?
“He also walked in the ways of the house of Ahab: for his mother was his counsellor to do wickedly. Wherefore he did evil in the sight of the LORD like the house of Ahab: for they were his counsellors after the death of his father to his destruction. And the destruction of Ahaziah was of God by coming to Joram: for when he was come, he went out with Jehoram against Jehu the son of Nimshi, whom the LORD had anointed to cut off the house of Ahab. And it came to pass, that, when Jehu was executing judgment upon the house of Ahab, and found the princes of Judah, and the sons of the brethren of Ahaziah, that ministered to Ahaziah, he slew them.” 2 Chronicles 22:3-4, 7-8 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/2ch.22.3-8.kjv
Who are your counselors? Psalm 1:1 tells us that blessed is the man that does not work in the counsel of the ungodly, thus highlighting the need to take stock of your advisers. Are they godly people or are they heading down the path of destruction with you in tow? In the Bible reading today, we see that Ahaziah the son of Jehoram was surrounded by evil counselors - first his mum and then the king of Israel. In the end, he met his destruction in the company of the king of Israel his counselor. He walked into death that could have been escaped as he was not the primary target. Are there certain challenges coming your way as a result of the advice you receive or the company you keep? Then there is a need for an urgent switch before it leads to ultimate destruction. Even if the challenges have not arrived, if the advice you get contravenes God’s word constantly, then you must be careful because the Bible tells us that there is a way that seems right to a man but the end thereof is destruction. Audit your counselors today.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for your guidance and instructions in your word. Please Lord, I ask for the spirit of discernment to determine when counsel received is contrary to your guidance. Fine tune my heart and ears to recognize your ways and words so that I am not led astray unto destruction in Jesus name 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾.
