Whom do you seek counsel from?

”And it shall come to pass, when Pharaoh shall call you, and shall say, What is your occupation? That ye shall say, Thy servants' trade hath been about cattle from our youth even until now, both we, and also our fathers: that ye may dwell in the land of Goshen; for every shepherd is an abomination unto the Egyptians.“ Genesis 46:33-34 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/gen.46.33-34.kjv

Whom do you seek counsel from?

Counselors are important for us especially when we go through unfamiliar territory. In the Bible reading today, because he had a detailed knowledge of the land and the practices of the land of Egypt, Joseph wanted his brothers to be in the good land of Goshen. Hence, he was coaching them on what to say to Pharaoh when he asks about their occupation. If they did not have that insight they could very well have attempted to hide their identity as shepherds which may result in them being given a land that may not have been appropriate.  Thankfully in our journey of life as believers, we have the ultimate counselor available to us in the form of the Holy Spirit. The Bible tells us that he teaches us, counsels us and brings to our remembrance the things that we have learnt. Most importantly he knows the mind of the father and helps us to pray the right prayers when we don’t even know what to pray for. However, as available as the HolySpirit is, the only way to get the benefits is through partnership and full obedience to his prompting. Are you sensitive to his prompting? And do you obey?  The Bible tells us that we would hear a word behind us telling us where to turn to. Do you listen?

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for your faithfulness always. Thank you for being mindful of us. Thank you for the gift of the HolySpirit. Please Lord, as I learn at your feet, please open my eyes to see, my ears to hear, and my soul to discern the instructions that would guide me into my place of glory and destiny in Jesus name 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾. ‎
