Accountability grows with kingdom maturity

โ€œAnd Nathan said to David, Thou art the man. Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul; Wherefore hast thou despised the commandment of the Lord, to do evil in his sight? thou hast killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and hast taken his wife to be thy wife, and hast slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon. Howbeit, because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the Lord to blaspheme, the child also that is born unto thee shall surely die.โ€ 2 Samuel 12:7, 9, 14 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/2sa.12.7-14.kjv

Accountability grows with kingdom maturity

With maturity comes higher accountability. When God has invested much in you, your actions have implications for his name. In the Bible reading today, after David had slept with Bathseba and killed her husband and also married her, God sent a message to him. It was not just one of simple rebuke. He reminded David of where he had brought him from and even let him know that he could have given him anything he wanted. He had vested interests in David and so the wrong actions of David had led people to blaspheme God and so he was angry and disappointed and meted out generational punishment to David beyond the immediate death of the child that came from the evil act. Like an adult who is reaching out to carry a child, the closer the child gets to the adult, the higher the impact of soil from that child on the adult. Hence it is a warning to the children of God, the beneficiaries of his Grace and mercies, to be careful of being carried away when you come into your rest. Because your actions or inactions have a direct reflection on God to others who are viewing from afar and because any soil is in direct contradiction of our purpose which is to bring glory to God, God takes such grieviously. If in doubt, ask Moses who had spoken face to face with God and yet because he did not give glory to God by obeying his instructions to the letter, he was bared from entering into the promise. So, are you a beneficiary of Godโ€™s goodness and blessings as His child? To whom much is given, much is also expected. Guard your heart and watch your actions.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for your profound mercies and blessings upon my life. Please Lord, donโ€™t let me get carried away in my place of rest. Dear HolySpirit, please prompt me at all times to stay focused on the will of Lord in every situation ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ
