Be Humble

”But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand. Be not wroth very sore, O LORD, neither remember iniquity for ever: behold, see, we beseech thee, we are all thy people.“ Isaiah 64:6, 8-9 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/isa.64.6-9.kjv

Be Humble

The Bible tells us that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Another verse in the Bible describes us as sheep that have gone astray with each one going our separate ways. Sometimes as believers, we come to God from a place of entitlement believing that we are better off than some others because of our righteous acts. However, the Bible reading today makes an important note that should calibrate our approach with God and this is the fact that all of our righteousness are like filthy rags before God.  Hence, we are only able to live righteously to God’s standard through the help of the Holy Spirit and not by our own might and works. As a result, it is important that we approach God from a place of humility recognizing like the verse today that we are clay in his hand and as the potter of our lives he can make of us as he pleases. This emphasizes the need to consistently seek for God’s mercy and grace on our Christian walk because without him we can do nothing. The Bible reminds us that we are not saved by our own works and so no one should boast.  Plead consistently for God’s mercy and grace and commit to yield like a clay in God’s hands to his molding process.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for your faithfulness and loving kindness. Thank you because of your mercies that prevail over judgement. Please Lord, I come before you afresh recognizing that I am a clay in your hands and without you I am nothing. Please have mercy on me and give me the grace to live according to your statues. Let your pleasure in me be evident for all to see in Jesus name 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾. ‎
