Be Humble before the Lord

“Who hath taken this counsel against Tyre, the crowning city, whose merchants are princes, whose traffickers are the honourable of the earth? The LORD of hosts hath purposed it, to stain the pride of all glory, and to bring into contempt all the honourable of the earth.” Isaiah 23:8-9 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/isa.23.8-9.kjv

Be Humble before the Lord

The Bible says in Prov 11:28 that those who trust in riches will fall but the righteous will thrive like a green leaf. The analogy of the righteous thriving like a green leaf is apt because if we remain connected to the giver of life and the controller of every living thing then we have what we need in season. However, when the source of life is disconnected, no matter how large a tree has grown previously it will ultimately fall as we have seen in lands that have experienced draught.  In the Bible reading today, God was giving the prophet Isaiah a prophecy about Tyre. The land had previously had the wealthy and affluent come through and yet all of the riches that they had were about to be taken away. This was purposed by God to stain the pride of the land. Hence, it is a dangerous thing to start to become confident in riches and accolades without true acknowledgement of the hand that sustains the universe. The Bible tells us to humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God and he will lift us up in due time.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for your faithfulness always. Thank you because you are the source of life. I submit myself and all my accomplishments afresh to you. Please lift me up and show to the world the benefits of a divinely guided life in Jesus name 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾. ‎
