Breaking the yoke off your shoulder

“And Esau took his wives, and his sons, and his daughters, and all the persons of his house, and his cattle, and all his beasts, and all his substance, which he had got in the land of Canaan; and went into the country from the face of his brother Jacob. For their riches were more than that they might dwell together; and the land wherein they were strangers could not bear them because of their cattle.” Genesis 36:6-7 KJV https://www.bible.com/1/gen.36.6-7.kjv

Breaking the yoke off your shoulder

It’s not over until it is over…. “But for him who is joined to all the living there is hope, for a living dog is better than a dead lion” Eccl 9:4…… Sometimes we go through challenges in life where it feels like all hope is lost and that the situation can no longer be remedied. In some cases, some of the issues may have been as a result of carelessness on our parts. However, today’s Bible reading shows that giving up is not an option and that if we keep at it, it will all line up in the end by the mercies of God. When Esau came back from the mission to get the meal for Isaac so that he could bless him, he realized that all the blessings had been given to Jacob. He was bitter but still asked desperately for even one blessing and his father said that while all the blessings had been given to Jacob and that he was not likely to get the easy blessings (the earth’s riches and the dews of heaven) but he was going to live by the sword and ultimately break the yoke over him. So many years later, in the reading today, Esau had to move somewhere else because the joint blessings of Jacob and Esau (not just Jacob’s) was too much to contain the land where they lived. No matter how bad it looks today, as long as there is life, and the mercies of God remains available, there is hope. Halleluyah!!!

Prayer: Dear Lord, have mercy on me. Please make a way for me where there seems to be no way. Restore unto me the years that the locust and cankerworm have taken away. Help me to live by your instructions that I may thrive despite all odds. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
