Be careful of your associations, especially the friends with benefits who have no permanent friends but permanent interests. In the Bible reading today, it is interesting to note that Abner who was championing the opposition against David after Saul’s death by putting Saul’s son as king over the whole of Isreal except Judah where David ruled, was actually aware of the promises of God towards David. But he was working for his own interests and so he worked to make Ishboseth king instead. He was hoping to gain his loyalty permanently like the Devil and some of his agents do when they offer you positions and benefits that are conditional to buy your silence or make you look away from justice because you want to remain loyal to your ‘benefactors’. Well, Ishboseth did the unimaginable - He questioned Abner for sleeping with one of Saul’s concubines and that was when he was reminded that he was actually an imposter on the throne that God had given to David and Abner immediately started to garner the support of the rest of Isreal to hand over the throne to David. Question: What compromises are you making today for the sake of loyalties to those who have ‘crowned you king’ illegally? You must re-evaluate because it often backfires . Be careful of your associations.

Prayer: Dear Lord, please open my eyes to see unfriendly friends around me. Concerning the promises that you have given me, please Lord let there be discord in the camp of the enemies who are standing as barriers and all the glory will return to you in Jesus name 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
