”And the hail smote throughout all the land of Egypt all that was in the field, both man and beast; and the hail smote every herb of the field, and brake every tree of the field. Only in the land of Goshen, where the children of Israel were, was there no hail.“ Exodus 9:25-26 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/exo.9.25-26.kjv

Your association matters. The Bible encourages believers not to forsake the assembling together of brethren. God also says that where two or more are gathered in his name, his presence abides. To buttress the point, the Bible tells that he who breaks the hedge the serpent will bite. The association of like-minded believers is a critical hedge of protection because the iron sharpens iron and when you are weary you find strength in the community. In the Bible reading today, as part of the plagues of Egypt, God rained down hail upon the land and it damaged crops and killed people and animals that were outside throughout Egypt. The only place that was untouched was the land of Goshen where the Israelites stayed. Was every Israelite righteous? Probably not, but for his namesake God created a distinction between his people and the Egyptians. Your individual walk with God is very important as well because ultimately the Christian race is individual and all men will stand before the throne of judgement. However running that race in the company of fellow believers creates an even greater hedge especially for the low points in the journey to the destination. Check your associations.
