Come out and be ye separate

“Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother's son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came.” Genesis 12:1-2, 5 KJV https://www.bible.com/1/gen.12.1-2,5.kjv

Come out and be ye separate

Stepping out vs taking along..... ”Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,” (2 Cor 6:17)... God calls us to life of consecration and separation. However sometimes, some little sins and habits are so engrained in our ways and routines , that we carry them along with appropriate justification. Like the story in the Bible reading today where God had asked Abraham to come out of his kindred into a place that He would show him. The act of obedience from Abraham as he steps out in faith to a place where he did not know is truly commendable and exemplary. But then he took a piece of his kindred with him and ‘justifiably’ so. His nephew Lot who had lost his father.. so he had become ‘like’ close family. We know that later in the journey, Abraham did not come into the fullness of God’s promise until he separated from Lot, fully completing the instruction to come out of his kindred. A lady while trying to solve the issue of constipation for her child kept eliminating food options and trying out new ones but the problem persisted until the day she realized that there was a particular ingredient which always remained in all the food options despite changing the main food content. And that was when the issue was resolved after months. The question today is: What are you holding on to that is limiting you from entering into the fullness of God despite the seeming acts of “obedience”. For some it’s the bitterness and hurts that we are holding on to. We have been told that partial obedience is still disobedience. It’s time for a soul searching today with the help of the Holyspirit.

Prayer: Dear God, thank you for your word today. I open my heart to you today, let the Holyspirit examine me and open my eyes to see the things that I am holding on to that may be standing in the way of my breakthrough. Give me the grace to let go 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
