Danger of distraction

“And Saul went on this side of the mountain, and David and his men on that side of the mountain: and David made haste to get away for fear of Saul; for Saul and his men compassed David and his men round about to take them. But there came a messenger unto Saul, saying, Haste thee, and come; for the Philistines have invaded the land. Wherefore Saul returned from pursuing after David, and went against the Philistines: therefore they called that place Sela–hammahlekoth.” 1 Samuel 23:26-28 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/1sa.23.26-28.kjv

Danger of distraction

What are you so focused on or chasing that you are leaving your main domain unattended? In today’s Bible reading we see that killing David became Saul’s primary preoccupation. Everywhere he heard that David was hiding, he would go after him to the point that the Philistines invaded his kingdom while he was distracted. In current day parlance, we Christians sometimes become too preoccupied with other assignments, positions and in some cases finances that we are willing to do anything to get them. In the process of chasing such, we often neglect the walk with God and the core assignments that we have. Saul was chasing David because he feared that he will take the kingdom yet he left the kingdom vulnerable to external attacks. Are you playing Saul? Is your kingdom assignment and even you family protected? Or are you busy chasing other things at their expense?

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for your word. Please help me by your Holy Spirit to be focused on your priorities for my life so that I don’t miss out chasing after distractions 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
