Be careful of the things and people that you spend your time on. The Bible says that there is a way that seems right to a man but the end thereof is destruction. The Bible also goes on to tell us that “Bread gained by deceit is sweet to a man, But afterward his mouth will be filled with gravel” (Prov 20:17). In today’s Bible reading, Ammon had an unnatural affection for his half sister which was flamed and executed through the aid of his friend. He performed an act that was to release a chain reaction of evil consequences in his family and ultimately lead to his death and he did not even get a chance to ‘enjoy’ the act. As soon as he committed the act, he hated the sister with same amount of love he once had for her. His inordinate affection had become gravel immediately. The Bible warns that we should mortify our members to prevent us from inordinate affection amongst other things (Colossians 3:5). You need to put the flesh and it’s ungodly desires in check by filtering out the things that feed such desires. What do you see, hear, think? The Bible tells us that if we walk by the spirit, we will not gratify the desires of the flesh. The choice is yours. Would you rather live by the Spirit or give access to the flesh to have free reign with its attendant consequences?

Prayer: Dear Lord, please deliver me from evil counsel and ungodly associations. Give me the grace through the help of the Holy Spirit to put my flesh in check always in order to preserve my glorious destiny in you 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
