Delay is dangerous
“And he arose early in the morning on the fifth day to depart: and the damsel's father said, Comfort thine heart, I pray thee. And they tarried until afternoon, and they did eat both of them…….. But the man would not tarry that night, but he rose up and departed, and came over against Jebus, which is Jerusalem; and there were with him two asses saddled, his concubine also was with him.” Judges 19:8, 10 KJV https://www.bible.com/1/jdg.19.8,10.kjv

The Bible tells us that “I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.” (John 9:4). In another scripture we are told that there is a time for everything and a season for every purpose under the Heaven (Eccl 3:1) with so many examples. This is really apt for the Bible reading today. The man in this reading has been trying to depart from the home of the his concubine’s father for a while but everytime he was enticed to just relax a little bit in the morning and rest his body and soul and then by evening it would become obvious that he could not go. On the fifth day, he succumbed as usual to the enticement in the morning but insisted at night that he had to go. It turned out to be a very bad decision in the rest of the chapter that led to really gruesome end for the lady. If he had departed in the morning, the chances of that happening would have been slim. The message this morning is to so many people who God has committed assignments into their hands and who are being distracted by the temporary gains of the world thinking there is still time. It is very important as the Bible says to focus early as the night comes where one cannot do much and where it might even be dangerous to do anything. What is God impressing on your heart today? Make haste and go about the master’s bidding.
Prayer: Dear God, please have mercy on me for any way that I may have taken my kingdom assignment with levity. Grant me the grace to do your will today 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
