Diligence in the Process
““Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming. “For the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered his goods to them. ‘For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away.” Matthew 25:1, 13-14, 29 NKJV https://bible.com/bible/114/mat.25.1-29.NKJV

You have a part to play in your kingdom assignment. Diligence and watchfulness during the process enables you to enter into your rest. The Bible says that the one that is diligent in his assignment would stand before kings and not mean men. In your kingdom assignments, do you just put in the bare minimum or do you go the extra mile? The Bible reading today provides an analogy to the kingdom of God using two parables, the parable of the virgins and the parable of the talents. What do they have in common? In each case there was a distinction between those who put in bare minimum and those went the extra mile. For the virgins, those who were prepared and took extra oil to keep their lamp alive were able to meet the bridegroom while the foolish ones whose lamp went out and needed to go get more oil came back to a shut gate. It also highlights the expectations of heaven from us. Each person needed to have their lamp on, it wasn’t about the light alone as they probably could have benefited from the light of their neighbors. After all, they went in search of oil with whatever light was available so they could see. However, it appeared that the criteria was that each had a lamp that was burning at the time of arrival and that they failed in. Same was the case with the talents, the one who did not meet the expectations of putting in effort to grow his talent was thrown into utter darkness. The journey of the kingdom requires commitment and diligence to enter into your ultimate rest. Don’t shortchange yourself of the kingdom rest by not being a faithful steward of the kingdom resources and time that you have. Diligence in the process indeed matters. Many are called but few are chosen.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for your faithfulness always. Thank you for your expectations of us as your children. Thank you for the blessings that you have made available to us. Please help me Lord to be wise and not to be weary in tilling the garden that you have provided to me. Help me to enter into my kingdom rest in Jesus name 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾.
