Abuse of office and power, especially spiritual power, is very grievous in the sight of God. In today’s reading, we see how Jeroboam who God handed the kingdom of Isreal that was taken away from Solomon’s lineage on a platter of gold, decided to play God in order to keep that which God handed to him in the first place. What an irony! Because he did not want the Isrealites to turn back to the house of David when they go to worship at the Temple, he created gods for them. He didn’t even think about building another temple. Instead he perverted the ways of the people using his power as king. And because of this he became a reference point for sin and disobedience for the kings coming after. He not only went after idols like Solomon did in the end, he led God’s priced possession Isreal along with him. He did not fall into idolatry, he devised it with wide open eyes. We need to be careful not to be carried away by the gifts and position that God hands to us to the point where we start to manipulate the natural order and commandments of God. Creating an alternative and leading people astray just to retain relevance. That certainly cannot end well. Be careful to stay connected and return the glory where it is due always!!!

Prayer: Dear God, thank you for life. Thank you for your presence and direction always. Please Lord, help me through the prompting of the HolySpirit to stay tuned to your frequency always. Please Lord, never yield me over to a reprobate mind in Jesus name 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
