An analogy to describe the concept of drawing near to God and he drawing near would be to imagine 2 individuals separated by some distance and the second person has the ability to help the other one. And this individual is asking the other to take a step and I will meet you halfway... The twist to the conversation however is that once the first person takes a step, the helper’s step sizes are so large that it’s almost 10 times more than the other, so only after 3-4 steps they meet.... not really halfway through the actual distance but closer to the first individual because the helper covered more ground with every step. The widow of Zarepath had only the last meal she was planning for her son and her to eat and then die. Elijah asked for that meal and if she had held on to it she probably would have gone on to die but by yielding what she had she was blessed tremendously and her story was turned around permanently. Like a parent that asks a child for a piece of the candy that was bought by the parent in the first place, God is saying to us today, can you yield yourself to me? Cleanse your heart and hands and he is waiting to enter into a relationship that will benefit you... He will not force himself into our space because he has given us a will.. Use it right...
