Generosity in Giving

“and they said unto Moses, Thy servants have taken the sum of the men of war which are under our charge, and there lacketh not one man of us.” Numbers 31:49 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/num.31.49.kjv

Generosity in Giving

Pause to reflect from time to time. If we think deep, we’ll realize the faithfulness of God and that inspires how we then fellowship, reverence and sacrifice to God. In today’s Bible reading, God has asked Moses to order the Israelites to go deal with the Midianites who had caused them to sin which resulted in God plaguing Israel. Now the men of war came back with significant spoils and God guided Moses on the sharing formula for both the men of war and the rest of the nation. Of each portion God had called out the percentages for offerings.  However, the men who went to war reflected and were appreciative of the fact that they all came back alive. So they still brought of their portion of the spoils all sorts of precious jewelry to God as an atonement for their soul. They did not rationalize that God had already taken a portion. They thought deep and realized that whatever they eventually got was given to them by God who granted victory in the first place and kept them alive to enjoy the spoils. Don’t be ‘penny wise and pound foolish’ with God.  Be generous in your giving to God. He owns the cattle on the thousand hills and the silver and gold. More importantly he owns your soul.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for being our shield and buckler. Thank you for being the all-sufficient God. Thank you for battles won on our behalf. Lord, I look back on all that you have done for me and all that you continue to do and I commit afresh to honoring you with my life and all in Jesus name 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾. ‎
