God is with you
“Be strong and courageous, be not afraid nor dismayed for the king of Assyria, nor for all the multitude that is with him: for there be more with us than with him: with him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the LORD our God to help us, and to fight our battles. And the people rested themselves upon the words of Hezekiah king of Judah. And the LORD sent an angel, which cut off all the mighty men of valour, and the leaders and captains in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned with shame of face to his own land. And when he was come into the house of his god, they that came forth of his own bowels slew him there with the sword.” 2 Chronicles 32:7-8, 21 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/2ch.32.7-21.kjv

The assurance of God’s presence makes the difference. The Bible tells us that even though the enemies gather, because the gathering is not of God, they will fall for our sake. In the Bible reading today, the enemy came to show to Hezekiah and Judah who was boss. The Assyrians had built confidence over the years of dealing with so many nations that they had the effrontery to tell the Israelites that God could not save them out of his hands, citing the examples of lesser gods of those nations that he dealt with. He did not bet on the fact that there was a significant difference here. First, he was dealing with the Lord of Lords and the God of all. Secondly, he did not realize that as a result of retracing their steps and reconnecting to God in worship, Judah had prime spot in God’s heart. We know from the rest of the chapter that God fought the battle by himself and crushed the enemy and upon his return home, the king of Assyria was killed by the unexpected, his own children. God brings the counsel of the wicked to foolishness concerning his beloved. So the question is: What’s your side of the equation looking like? Is God in your corner? If yes, then rest assured that the scales are tipped in your favour. If not, retrace your step to beef up your corner. The assurance of God’s presence speaks victory unlimited.
