Good works speak

“And the king said unto Ziba, What meanest thou by these? And Ziba said, The asses be for the king's household to ride on; and the bread and summer fruit for the young men to eat; and the wine, that such as be faint in the wilderness may drink. And the king said, And where is thy master's son? And Ziba said unto the king, Behold, he abideth at Jerusalem: for he said, To day shall the house of Israel restore me the kingdom of my father.” 2 Samuel 16:2-3 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/2sa.16.2-3.kjv

Good works speak

Your good works speak. However, note that it may not come from the quarters that you expect it to come from. In the chapter of today’s Bible reading, King David was still on the run from his son Absalom who had taken over his position and possibly sought to kill him. We see however that Ziba the servant of Mephiboseth, Saul’s grandson whom David had restored to wealth despite being lame, had come with a lot of supplies for David. However, the actual recipient of the kindness from David stayed back in Jerusalem thinking that somehow he was now going to be given the throne since he was in Saul’s lineage. Even David’s good friend deserted him and went to pledge his loyalty to Absalom. He was actually friends with the throne and not David. Sometimes we face betrayals and disappointments from the most unexpected quarters. But like seeds that grow into a tree and brings forth its own fruits and seeds, the good works that we have done as children of God speak for us and become a preservation and succor in a time when it looks like the world has turned its back. No matter how bad the situation looks though, its often temporary and if we trust God and look out for the lessons, we will come out strong. In the meantime keeping doing good works and sowing the seeds of mercy and kindness. It may germinate and manifest from unexpected quarters.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for your love and presence in my life. Thank you for the lessons in life and discipline. Lord, please open my eyes to the right opportunities and fertile grounds to continue to sow my seeds of good works so that they can speak for me in due time 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
