“And Balak the son of Zippor saw all that Israel had done to the Amorites. And Moab was sore afraid of the people, because they were many: and Moab was distressed because of the children of Israel. And Moab said unto the elders of Midian, Now shall this company lick up all that are round about us, as the ox licketh up the grass of the field. And Balak the son of Zippor was king of the Moabites at that time.” Numbers 22:2-4 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/num.22.2-4.kjv

Perspectives matter. Sometimes, we are so caught up in our current situation that we don’t appreciate the battles that have been won in the past and other victories. Hence, while we continue to perceive ourselves as grasshoppers in our own eyes, what others see are giants. The Bible reading today paints such a scenario. While the Israelites were always busy murmuring and complaining about how aimless their journey seemed and how much better they were in Egypt, nations that were on their path were scared of them because of the victories that God had granted them to past obstacles. In this instance, the king of Moab was so worried about them that he wanted Balaam to come and curse them so that it would be easier for him to conquer them. While others could see the mighty invisible hands at work on their behalf, they struggled to see it because they were always focused on the immediate and next challenge. As children of God who are being guided by his divine arms, it is always important to look back at where we are coming from, recognize the obstacles of yesteryears that have become stepping stones and have an appreciation of his capacity to carry you through whatever lies ahead. It would be such a shame if we yield to the internal enemy of defeat and complaint when what even your future enemies see is a powerful person enabled by God.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you because you are the Almighty God, the all-powerful and all-sufficient God. Thank you for victories, thank you for guidance. Thank you for the assurance of a hope and future. I received renewed grace to rest in your love and promises until I come into my promise in Jesus name 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾.
