Mercy, a prerequisite for favor

“Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come. When the Lord shall build up Zion, he shall appear in his glory. He will regard the prayer of the destitute, and not despise their prayer. This shall be written for the generation to come: and the people which shall be created shall praise the Lord.” Psalm 102:13, 16-18 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/psa.102.13-18.kjv

Mercy, a prerequisite for favor

God’s mercy is a key prerequisite for his favour. The Bible tells us that God’s eyes cannot behold iniquities and that, besides, all of our righteousness as humans are like filthy rags before God. Hence, we really do not have any basis for the sense of entitlement we often have towards God as humans. However, as seen in the Bible reading today, when the set time for favour comes, God’s mercy is activated because he has also said that he will have mercy on whom he will have mercy and show compassion on whom he will. When it’s the set time of favour, the prayers of the forgotten will be answered. Hence if there is one thing to ask for, it is that we are candidates of God’s mercy

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for your loving kindness and your faithfulness. Please Lord, make me a candidate of your mercy. Arise and favour me. Bring answers to my long-standing prayer request by your mercy 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
